Pipe Relining Johannesburg

5-Star Reviewed
Home Pipe Relining

A resin liner is pulled through the damaged pipe and cured in place, forming a new pipe inside the old one. No trench.

It costs more per metre than open excavation but usually less in total once reinstatement is counted. More at Leak Detection Johannesburg.

A CCTV survey is needed first. Send footage if you already have it.

When Relining Is the Right Call

  • The line runs under a driveway, a pool, a building or a mature garden.
  • Cracks, open joints and root intrusion, with the pipe still structurally in place.
  • Sectional damage at a known point rather than along the whole run.

When It Is Not

A fully collapsed pipe has nothing to line against. A line with a serious back-fall needs relaying to the correct gradient, since a liner follows the existing path and will hold water exactly where the old pipe did. Both are excavation jobs.

These are indicative market ranges, not a quotation. They are compiled from published South African leak detection and plumbing pricing to give you a starting point for budgeting. They are not the rate card of any company on this platform.

Compare relining against excavation as total delivered cost. Under lawn, digging usually wins. Under a paved driveway or a pool surround, relining usually wins.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a liner last?

Manufacturers generally rate cured-in-place liners at around 50 years. Ask which resin and liner system is being used and what warranty comes with it in writing.

Does relining reduce the pipe diameter?

Slightly, by the thickness of the liner. On a 110 mm domestic sewer the loss is small enough that flow usually improves, because the new surface is smoother than the old pipe.

Can a collapsed pipe be relined?

No. A liner needs a host pipe to cure against. A collapse has to be excavated and replaced, though the rest of the run can often still be lined.
